6 Rising Artists To Go See at Dimensions

We are getting very excited about Dimensions over at MOTZ HQ. With just over a week to go until Dimensions and an abundance of fresh upstarts, we'd like to shed some light on the rising acts worth checking out over next weekend.

Emma Blake originally from Glasgow, but the journey of her artistic career began in Copenhagen. She moved to the Danish capital for her studies and the discovery of the local techno scene quickly led to her playing regularly at clubs like Culture Box. The red bull academy graduate blends a mix of hard-and-fast techno and acid which will make a good act to catch at The Void next Sunday. Blake has been killing it the past the year & looking forward to see where she goes next.

Berlin-based british dj/producer Christian Jay has been making quite the name for himself with his productions and regularly plays in the infamous Griessmuehle. He recently released a record on Meld, an imprint created by him and some of his friends. His style can be summed up as ex-minimal, retro-influenced techno/house. He has also had a successive of releases for Idle Hands, Butter Side Up and NorthSouth. We see big things for Christian and are looking forward to catching his set.

London’s Object Blue has a reputation for her live sets, which sound like a collision of trippy wormhole techno, bass-heavy UK sounds and wonky rhythms. It’s experimental club music that doesn’t forget to make you move. Object Blue asserted this year when she dropped Do You Plan to End a Siege, her debut release. The producer, sound artist, and DJ’s dark, visceral productions spasm and staccato across a metallic and extraterrestrial soundscape making her an interesting act to catch next Friday at The Void.

James Newmarch first came on our radar after becoming a regular face at Jaded and in the space of a year, he has become lot more known on the London scene for his quick-fire mixing and well-tuned ear, all of which can be witnessed during most of FOLD’s parties. With heaps of knowledge on sound engineering, James has a certain advantage which other DJs do not, and this shines in his considered track selection and confidence in guiding the dancefloor. A penchant for DnB as well as techno and electro, James knows his stuff and is an excellent addition to the Dimensions bill this year. Catch him down at Jack’s Corner with us on Friday night and also at the FOLD boat party on Thursday.

Imogen has followed a steady curve over the last few years which has seen her grow from hosting a weekly radio show back in 2017 to earning a fabric residency in May this year. What makes Imogen stand out is her ability to cover a wide range of sounds both in her productions and DJ sets, just take a look at her impressive list of releases here. Having played with Nina Kraviz at the Moat at last year’s Dimensions, Imogen is no stranger to a good sesh under the sun and this time she joins the FOLD lads and Jensen Interceptor for their boat party on Thursday as well as playing The Moat once again later that night with Nina Kraviz, Jane Fitz, Objekt and Blasha & Allat. Definitely a good shout for those who like some tough techno, fuzzy electro and a drop of acid. Interpret that as you will.

Co-founders and residents of Manchester's Meat Free platform, Blasha & Allat remain a core part of club culture up North with an aim to create a safe and welcoming space for anyone who loves electronic music. A dynamic duo in the booth, techno is their forte and in the last number of months, the selectors have gone on to play in Berlin, Dublin, Cork, Leeds but their biggest milestone yet includes a set in Printworks, London in September. But before all that, Meat Free return to Dimensions and host The Moat on Thursday night with Nina Kraviz & co. as listed above. The pair also rep Meat Free on the sea with a boat party on Sunday in collaboration with the Love Muscle crew.
