AIROD - Universe Remix EP [MLKL015]

AIROD Universe Remix EP [MLKL015] released on Molekül, is a beautifully constructed 4 track masterpiece, with stunning production.

Not a bit of energy is lost throughout the EP as AIROD's original track ‘Universe of 90’s Techno Parties’ is joined by remix's from Randomer, Myler, and Perc.

With tracks from 4 heavy hitters, we have a guaranteed techno massacre!

The original track, produced by AIROD, is full on relentless! The bar is set high from the very second you press play with a fresh 90’s approach. A distorted vocal, and a hard synth pattern is the perfect introduction to the track. The vocal and synth slowly gain pace, and escalate in to a fast paced booming rhythm with hard elements and pounding kick drums slapping you right in the face. The crackling patterns and bleeps that echo around the synth create a filthy melody and the use of crash symbols, and kick breaks, along with the vocal rattling against the speakers keeps you firmly locked in to the core of the madness.

The severity of the first track is just a taster of what’s to come with the rest of the EP.

Randomer's remix is definitely as electric and filthy as the original. Randomer’s tracks have always been grungy and dirty and in recent times have taken an even darker approach - this remix being no different. The track starts out with eerie chimes and high pitched atmospheric sounds building tension as it progresses. The vocal cuts through the chimes, and we are introduced to a chugging kick and the familiar synth pattern. The use of percussive hats and the haunting laugh dotted throughout really adds to the feeling of insanity and interlocks you in to the chaos.

Myler's remix has Myler written all over it as the the immediate distorted kick drum screams through the speakers from the get go. Reverberating pads and fierce melodic percussion surround the dark and dirty groove. The track is carried by a whipping pulsing stab, and the syncopated rhythm keeps the track ticking along nicely while holding on to the darkness of the original. The slamming of the high pitched energetic synth against the kick drum is punishing, and the track is truly a peak time belter.

Perc’s remix is a stomping fast paced exhilarating end to the EP. The kick drum is clean and punchy, and the spinning piercing distorted synth is an immediate attention grabber. The shrewd synth eventually slaps straight in to a break like drum rhythm, absolutely melting you. The screeches against the synth motif is gut wrenchingly good, and it’s hard to take the smile off your face as the track is literally demolishing. This is sure to knock the socks clean off your feet when heard on any big system. What an end to a thrilling 4 track release!
