Review: Eel Behaviour 'Sniper' [Earwiggle]

Sunil Sharpe, founder of Dublin based record label Earwiggle, is in the process of releasing a series of EPs to celebrate the label hitting 20 releases. ‘Eel Behaviour’ features 6 compilation EPs, all packed full of brain meltingly good tracks produced by 24 heavy hitting artists. Eel Behaviour 3 ‘Sniper’ (EP 3 out of 6) launches as a digital release today! The solid, well-constructed EP is packed full of energy and holds on to a high quality standard throughout each track. Ctrls, Jerome Hill, SP-X and Bodyjack step up for the 3rd release of the series. Weapons incoming!

The first track ‘Breaker’ starts the EP with a bang. with a powerful and extremely well crafted techno track from producer Ctrls. The track is tight, with a menacing vibe and is definitely one of Ctrls' harder releases. His productions always seem to appear in sets from some of the biggest techno DJs in the world, and undoubtedly ‘Breaker’ is sure to be no different. Expect to hear this tasty number across multiple dancefloors, warehouses, and massive systems.

The EP continues strong as ‘Breaker’ is followed by SP-X’s ‘Mind Smelter’. This relentless track screams SP-X from the beginning, with bouncing elements and bleeps penetrating through the track accompanied by stabs, a thudding kick drum and rattling hi-hats. SP-X tracks always create the perfect mood in any setting, and this track is no exception.

Wormface by Jerome Hill is refreshing and booming. The steady kick drum and deep male vocal blend together well with the random bleeps, and quivering synth sounds. Steady hats and distorted frequencies are all combined together, resulting in an edgy, pounding and bouncy track. Wormface is without doubt a peak time banger!

Closing the EP, the last track is Bodyjack ‘Keeping The Wolf From The Door’. A dark and dirty house like rhythm with pounding kicks and a steady groove. Slowing things down slightly but keeps a heavy vibe. Bodyjack AKA Chris Finkes is an experienced DJ, and his years of knowledge is evident in his productions.

Eel Behavior 1-3 ‘Conga’, ‘Moray’, and ‘Sniper’ have been huge, so we can only assume the final three will be as big - already looking forward to the next release!
