Review: Keepsakes & Ayarcana - Music For The Vitriolic Age

Haven releases it's second EP with Berlin based bad boi's Ayarcana and label co-founder Keepsakes. The A-side features Ayarcana's ‘Face Struck With An Axe’, it's a techno and metal infused track with disturbed vocals echoing throughout and features guitar-like synth stabs then crescendo impacts near a minute in with a devastating kick. The A2 is a heavily distorted track, quite striped back with double kicks and a nightmarish acid line developing into a dissonant noisy melody that embodies the Italian producer’s ‘Conflict’. Keepsakes B-side is more dancefloor appropriate starting off with 'Populist Piss Pot'. The track is eerily atmospheric, silent hill-esque incorporating shrieking synth lines, thudding drums that narrates a killer track. On the B2 is ‘Narcissists From Space’, which not only has a great name but is a fucking tune. We are treated to Keepsakes signature quirkiness in this space jam. It is filled with lots of texturised sounds so expect crunching, purring drums, interference and extraterrestrial synths leading to static break-downs that brings you on a trip out of this world.
